We are a busy family. Between two full time jobs, young kids, countless animals to care for, recipe testing and running the blog, life gets away from us sometimes. We find the fall, spring and winter particularly difficult to keep up with the housework. We heat with firewood, which is notoriously messy, plus we find when it’s wet out that our tar and chip driveway often tracks onto our boots which inevitably brings small debris into the house. When we’re going out to the barn and tending to animals multiple times a day the house gets messy…fast. Daily cleaning is hardly enough to keep up.
That’s why when our old robot vacuum died we needed a replacement for our own sanity. We previously had Shark IQ robot vacuums. There were parts of these we enjoyed. It was bagless and had a high capacity dustbin, but we found the app glitchy and that the obstacle avoidance was poor. We had two of them, and both failed without option for repair, according to Shark. Disappointing. We were offered a discount to buy another Shark unit, but weren’t sure the discount was enough to sway us. We love Shark products normally (in fact, their upright vacuum is probably my favourite to use, far surpassing my Dyson model) but it seemed there was still improvements to be made on their robot line. Hence, we kept looking.
Robot vacuums are all over the map in pricing these days. You can get the most basic, “dumb” sweeper-bots for as low as $20 up to thousands of dollars for the most advanced vacuums. We didn’t want to spend thousands on a unit, but we still wanted a vacuum that had excellent performance and good obstacle navigation- especially with an active toddler and cats running amok.
We have predominantly hard floors with just a few area rugs, so extreme carpet performance wasn’t necessary for us. The ability to mop was a nice perk- but I knew that if we were going to get a mopping vacuum I wanted something that also cleaned and dried the mops to avoid stink and hygiene issues for those days where we’re too busy or forget to remove the mop heads. A common problem with cheaper vacuums is that odours can develop if they’re not properly cared for. We wanted a vacuum that did most of the basics on its own in order to justify the cost. When we added up the checklist of our wants and looked at the options…we were a little shocked by the pricing though. Then came the Mova P10 Pro Ultra which I saw had surprisingly great reviews.
I’d tried another Mova product in the past and was blown away by the app functionality and quality of the item, considering I’d never heard of the brand before, so I was intrigued to learn more about their robot vacuums and maybe take the plunge into a newcomer’s territory. The Mova P10 Pro Ultra did just about everything we wanted after all, and it was a fraction of the cost of their competitors. I checked many review platforms for more information and test results on these units, and I saw they consistently outperformed other vacuums in many ways and were considered the best value for your money.
So, I jumped the gun and we purchased one.
The verdict? We love it.
I had trouble finding everything I wanted to know about this vacuum all in one place, so that’s why I felt a comprehensive buying guide to the Mova P10 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum may be helpful to other shoppers considering this option. The information below is my real-world experience using the vacuum, which we paid for out of pocket. No sponsorship here!

What do I love about the Mova P10 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum?
- Child lock available in-app
Our toddler son loves to press buttons and was always turning on and off the robot vacuums or attempting to fiddle with them. The app gives you the option to turn on child lock functions, this way your kids can’t mess with the robot when it’s job is in progress.
That means, if you have Child Lock turned on, when you want to run the robot vacuum you have to press and hold the dock button to override the child lock feature and run the vacuum if you aren’t using the app.
- Fairly large threshold clearance
One of the big downfalls with most robot vacuums is that they struggle to cross thresholds. The Mova P10 Pro Ultra has a fairly high threshold clearance of ~22mm that should cross any standard threshold between rooms. Our house is a very old farmhouse with over an inch threshold into a bathroom and then a step up into the family room. Unfortunately there isn’t any robot vacuum that I’m aware of that can (currently) cross these thresholds well. We could get a robot ramp if we were so inclined, but we’re not currently concerned. The family room is a little….too…lived in and often has too much clutter with kids toys at the moment anyway that I feel it would be a challenge for any robot vacuum to clean well until our lives become a little less chaotic.
- Money saving charging options
We are currently on a hydro billing program where hydro use during the overnight hours is just a mere fraction the cost of hydro during the day. I was so pleased to find that you can adjust when the robot vacuum charges in the Mova app. We were able to adjust it to ensure the vacuum only charged its batteries during the ultra low overnight hours for our hydro consumption. Win!
- Flexibility to mop after vacuuming and other deep clean options
I was concerned about having the robot vacuum vacuum and mop simultaneously. With muck coming into the house from the barn, driveway gravel bits and stray cat litter to deal with, I was concerned that this would turn into pure muck and slime being vacuumed up by the robot- something that could be hard over time on the motor and accessories. The app gives you so much flexibility as to how you want Mova to clean. You can also change its cleaning parameters by room, as well. We opted to allow the P10 Pro Ultra to do a complete vacuum first and then go around and mop.
Additionally, we adjusted the setting to have the robot vacuum all the area rugs/carpet first. I find this ensures that stray bits don’t get blown back off the carpet and missed if it’s all done simultaneously. It’s just one example of extra functionality that allows you to get the most cleaning power from your vacuum.
We also have it set so the Mova pays close attention around furniture legs. It’s actually incredible seeing how far these vacuums have come with getting around tight spots and cleaning right up against furniture. Even the legs around our kitchen island are always left spotless…a spot that is very difficult to get into but the Mova just fits perfectly.
- Extended Reach Mop
Our previous, older generation (dumb) robot vacuums were awful at getting into corners and often left debris. This vacuum is exceptional at getting until tighter crevices. It has a clearance of approximately 3.25″ (or 4.25″ if you need to completely vacuum under furniture- the LiDAR sticks out from the top) which allows it to get right under our cabinetry and clean up any errant crumbs.
The vacuum has a 14″ diameter, which is large enough for it to be able to efficiently clean, but small enough to weave between most furniture pieces. - Phone Remote Control
While we don’t use this feature, this may be a huge selling feature to some. If you aren’t feeling like getting the stand up vacuum and want to guide Mova to a specific spot, you can use simple controls on your phone to navigate. No remote to lose.

- Self cleaning and drying mop
This was something I desperately wanted in a robot vacuum that mops. The vacuum routinely returns to the dock to clean the mop and ensure it’s not spreading dirty water around. Plus, it dries the mop after it’s completed its clean to ensure everything stays hygienic and avoids odours. - Quiet Operation
The Mova is fairly quiet in its operation. You can have a conversation at normal volume quite comfortably. I’m actually typing this with the vacuum running in the background now and it’s just a gentle background noise- not irritating to work with it running. Even when it’s working on carpet and increasing its suction, it’s far quieter than my upright vacuum. - Water Hookup is Possible
While we have not tested this feature, the manual does show that you can purchase a water hookup kit for refilling and draining the tanks. This a pretty premium feature, and it’s a great option for those who want even more hands off performance.
I am truly impressed by the many options this vacuum has in its price range, and the app is intuitive and responsive.
What are my biggest complaints of the Mova P10 Pro Ultra?
Honestly, I am incredibly happy with this vacuum and the unbelievable value it delivers in its price range compared to others. Nonetheless, there are always some things to be aware of. We did not find these to be a concern in our decision to purchase the Mova, but it may be something for you to factor in:
- Deep vacuuming on carpets could be better
This vacuum does a good enough job on our area rugs and carpets, but it’s not the best option for those with extensive carpets where hair is really worked deep into them. It will help tidy them up, but it won’t deep clean the same as a traditional upright vacuum or robot vacuums with multiple beaters. The vacuum shines its best on hard floors. If you do have extensive carpet or lots of hair on the floors and still wish to try out this model, you may wish to look into upgrading to a tri-cut roller brush, which may provide some benefit over the factory installed roller.
- Set stain mopping
The Mova P10 Pro Ultra does an excellent job with maintenance mopping and keeping your floors in their best condition, but if you aren’t running it often and regularly have grimey, deep stains you may need to hand mop those areas. - Requires special floor cleaner
While many do use ph-neutral floor cleaners in their robot vacuums without issue, Mova does specify that you should use their Mova floor cleaner to ensure there are no warranty concerns. Mova seems to discount their replacements directly on their website, so you may wish to purchase it there. That said, a little goes a long way and a bottle should last a very, very long time. - Bagged
I am used to bagless vacuums and was a bit perturbed about having to buy bags for the dustbin. It is an additional cost to factor in, but I’ve discovered the maintenance is generally less on a bagged vacuum. In fact, the more I looked into, it appears bagged vacuums generally perform better, are better for allergy sufferers and have less long term issues than their bagless robot counterparts. Therefore, while I was initially annoyed at not finding a bagless option in our price range, I do feel better that there are trade offs with the bags and I hope we will find this vacuum has a longer lifespan than our previous robot vacuums.
My Real Life Experience using the Mova P10 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum
Want to see the robot vacuum perform in real-life conditions? I’ve made a review video, highlighting my real experience using the Mova P10 Pro Ultra robot vacuum below.
During its daily use we found the obstacle avoidance excellent- cat toys, toddlers, cables, fallen boots, the vacuum did a great job at avoiding them and capturing the obstacles it faced in the app.
It continues to do an excellent job maintaining our floors and preventing litter and wood chips from our firewood from tracking across the house, and I don’t think they’ve ever looked more maintained with their daily mopping. It feels so good walking into a clean home!
I will say that the manual does have general recommendations to have clear space around the robot vacuum’s base, but we actually have ours stuck between two pieces of furniture with just a couple inches on either side and have experienced no issues with the performance of the robot vacuum, or interference with it docking.

How to Maintain the Mova P10 Pro Ultra Robot Vacuum
While the Mova is fairly maintenance free compared to many robot vacuums, there are some components you do want to be aware of. The Mova will automatically add cleaning solution to the clean water bin at the required amount. You simply need to remove the front panel and slip out the grey canister to add more cleaning solution, as needed. In this same area, you can access the dust bag.
The clean and dirty water bins are conveniently accessible through the top of the base unit. Simply lift the lid and pull out the containers. Clear is for clean water and the black is for dirty water. Your Mova app will send notifications for routine maintenance, as well.

Mova also provides a super handy brush to clean in crevices or manually cut hairs wrapped around the roller, if needed. Speaking of rollers with hair- should you experience issues with excessive hair tangling, you can also replace the roller with a tri-cut roller brush.
