I didn’t set out to become a snack developer. It started, like so many meaningful things do, with a personal shift — a shift in how I saw food, health, and the impact of my choices.

Years ago, I began eating plant-based for two reasons that tugged equally at my heart: health and compassion. I wanted to nourish my body in a way that felt good, and I couldn’t ignore the realities of how animals were treated in our mostly industrialized food system. Eating more plants felt like the most honest way forward.

But here’s the thing no one tells you when you go plant-based: not everything labeled “plant-based” is healthy.

I’d stroll the aisles of natural grocery stores and feel hopeful seeing all the “greenwashed” packaging — the leafy logos, the promises of wellness. But then I’d read the labels. Refined oils. Processed sugars. Additives I couldn’t pronounce. Even the snacks that claimed to be “clean” often weren’t whole food, plant-based (WFPB) — not really. I wanted food that was both kind and nourishing, and the options just didn’t deliver.

That frustration became a spark.

I started experimenting in my kitchen, determined to develop snacks that were:

  • Truly plant-based, not just in marketing but in practice.
  • Whole-food focused, because I believe our bodies deserve real ingredients.
  • Customizable, so that even if a recipe wasn’t 100% WFPB to start, it could be — with just one or two simple tweaks.
